Major Renovation and Structural Reinforcement of Boğaziçi and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridges
The renovation and reinforcement works were successfully completed on the structural systems of the most important 2 bridges in Istanbul that connect the European and Asian Sides. Heavy maintenance was conducted for the Bosphorus bridge that was commissioned in 1973 and its rope systems were replaced. Isolators were placed between the deck slabs and towers, and energy absorbing dampeners were placed on the abutments to prevent vibration of the bridge or damage during a possible earthquake. Also, tower elevators and electrification systems were renovated. A dehumidification system was installed on the main ropes and anchorage blocks on the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges.
